Petunia 'Fire Chief', heritage variety

'Fire Chief' was the very first scarlet red petunia on the market and was awarded in 1950. It features large, trumpet-shaped flowers in a deep, glowing red shade and a compact, well-branched growth habit. Ideal for pots, boxes, and hanging baskets. Unlike newer F1 hybrids, it is an open-pollinated, field-grown variety. Attracts bumblebees and butterflies.

Growing instructions

Pre-cultivate in February–March under grow lights. Gently press the seeds onto the surface of moist seed compost and do not cover. Place in a cool, bright location after germination. Transplant as needed into a slightly larger pot with nutrient-rich soil once roots have reached the bottom of the pot. Plant out after hardening off when the risk of frost has passed. Feed generously during the growing season.

Sowing depth: 0 cm
Germination time: 7–14 days
