Akleja 'Nora Barlow', kulturarv

Aquilegia cerulea 'Nora Barlow'

Nora Barlow is a charming and unique columbine with its full, almost pom‑pom-like small flowers in crimson and cream on 60–80 cm tall stems. It is easy to grow, hardy, and spreads happily in the border – excellent for cottage gardens, woodlands, and as cut flowers.

In the second half of the 19th century, beautiful double-flowered columbines with pink‑red and cream tones began to be cultivated in European gardens. Later, during the 20th century, the variant was found in the garden of Nora Barlow, granddaughter of Charles Darwin, and was subsequently launched commercially under her name.
